How does the PWYC Roster work?

The PWYC Roster connects households with participating Pay What You Canners, who may register for Work, Equip, Ride, or any combination of the three. Work helps with small home, garden, seasonal, maintenance, and other household tasks; Equip makes tools or equipment available; and Ride helps with transportation for people, supplies, or equipment. Visits generally up to 2 hours, with up to 40 hours of PWYC support per year and up to two Work visits per week when availability allows. After a visit, you decide what you can contribute, and Home & Garden Champs does not take a percentage of the Canner’s contribution.

Our Pay-what-you-canners

Meet the people who make Pay What You Can™ possible. Our pay-what-you-canners bring their own skills, experience, and personality to the work, and each participant goes through a Champs onboarding and verification process before taking on visits independently.

Tyler is a tradesworker with years of experience in insulation, roofing, and painting. He’s comfortable with a wide range of hands-on work, excluding plumbing and electrical, and takes pride in finishing the job well. He says he’s not so good with a tape measure—we think that’s a strength, not a weakness! Tyler is looking to make PWYC a full-time gig and is thinking about starting his own business. Available weekends.

Amadou is a friendly and thoughtful community member originally from Guinea. He speaks French and is learning English, and is joining PWYC to build local work experience and income while helping neighbors with practical home and garden tasks. He values cleanliness, respect, and doing things carefully, and brings a calm, cooperative attitude to the work. Amadou is also an experienced musician who enjoys performing.

Jacob is the founder of Home & Garden Champs. He’s a hands-on generalist who enjoys figuring out practical solutions to all the little things that come up around a home. He’s comfortable with a wide range of household and outdoor work, likes learning new things, and is usually happy to take on a problem and see what can be done. Available weekdays and weekends depending on schedule.
